Wij zoeken een stagiair per september 2026 voor 40 uur per week in Roelofarendsveen. 

Dit ga je doen 

• Uitvoeren en vergelijken van verschillende nucleïnezuur-extractiemethoden uit zaden 

• Ondersteunen bij library preparation-workflows voor Illumina sequencing, inclusief monsterkwantificatie en kwaliteitscontrole 

• Assisteren bij PCR- en qPCR-experimenten 

• Voorbereiden van monsters en reagentia voor sequencingruns 

• Nauw samenwerken met onderzoekers om wet lab-protocollen en workflows te optimaliseren 

• Bijdragen aan troubleshooting van laboratoriumprocessen en het verbeteren van de consistentie van sequencing 

• Samenwerken met bioinformatica- en onderzoeksteams om sequencingdata te koppelen aan downstream-analyses voor de detectie van virussen 

Wie zijn wij? 

Naktuinbouw maakt al enkele jaren actief gebruik van next-generation sequencing (NGS)-technologie ter ondersteuning van genomisch onderzoek, diagnostiek en moleculaire karakterisering van pathogenen. Ons wet lab-team werkt aan DNA- en RNA-sequencing workflows die bijdragen aan hoogwaardige analyses binnen een breed scala aan biologische toepassingen, waaronder de zaadsector. 

Recente ontwikkelingen op het gebied van sequencing capaciteit, low-input-protocollen, metagenomics en gerichte sequencing toepassingen bieden interessante mogelijkheden om de efficiëntie van laboratoria, de kwaliteit van sequencing en de doorlooptijd voor het detecteren van pathogenen zoals virussen en bacteriën te verbeteren. 

Met deze ontwikkelingen zijn wij op zoek naar een enthousiaste stagiair(e) voor het wet lab (9 maanden) om lopende sequencing projecten te ondersteunen en te helpen bij het optimaliseren van laboratorium workflows rondom Illumina-sequencing technologie. 

Je werkt nauw samen met ons Vegetable Seeds- en Bioinformatics Team. Dit is een uitstekende kans om praktijkervaring op te doen met Illumina-sequencing workflows, optimalisatie van wet lab-processen en toegepast genomisch onderzoek. 

Dit neem je mee 

• Je volgt momenteel een bacheloropleiding in moleculaire biologie, biotechnologie, genomics, life sciences of een verwante richting 

• Je hebt basiservaring met praktische laboratoriumtechnieken in de moleculaire biologie 

• Je hebt interesse in next-generation sequencing technologieën en innovatie in het laboratorium 

• Je werkt nauwkeurig, zelfstandig en gestructureerd 

• Je vindt het leuk om problemen op te lossen en laboratorium workflows te verbeteren 

• Je bent flexibel en gemotiveerd om samen te werken in een multidisciplinair team 

• Ervaring met NGS library preparation, PCR of sequencing technologieën is een pré

Wij bieden jou een betekenisvolle stageplaats in een ambitieuze organisatie. 

• Je krijgt een passende stagevergoeding van € 774 bruto per maand op basis van 40 uur per week 

• We bieden je twee verlofdagen per maand, of je houdt de officiële schoolvakanties en vrije dagen aan. 

• Mocht jij geen OV-studentenkaart hebben, dan vergoeden we je reiskosten (€ 0,23 per km/max 30 kilometer enkele reis)

Internship opportunity in Wet Lab Genomics and Illumina Sequencing at Naktuinbouw 

We are looking for an intern starting in September 2026 for 40 hours per week in Roelofarendsveen. 

What you will do 

• Perform and benchmark different nucleotide extraction methods from seeds 

• Support library preparation workflows for Illumina sequencing, sample quantification and quality control  

• Assist with PCR and qPCR-based experiments 

• Prepare samples and reagents for sequencing runs 

• Work closely with researchers to optimize wet lab protocols and workflows 

• Contribute to troubleshooting laboratory processes and improving sequencing consistency 

• Collaborate with bioinformatics and research teams to connect sequencing output with downstream analyses for the detection of viruses 

Who are we?  

Since several years, Naktuinbouw has been actively using next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology to support genomics research, diagnostics, and molecular characterization of pathogens. Our wet lab team works on DNA and RNA sequencing workflows that contribute to high-quality analysis across a wide range of biological applications, including the seed sector. 

Recent advances in sequencing throughput, low-input protocols, metagenomics, and targeted sequencing applications have created exciting opportunities to improve laboratory efficiency, sequencing quality, and turnaround times to detect pathogens like viruses and bacteria. 

With these developments, we are looking for an enthusiastic wet lab intern (9 months) to support ongoing sequencing projects and help optimize laboratory workflows around Illumina sequencing technology. 

You’ll work side-by-side with our Vegetable seeds and Bioinformatics Team, an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in Illumina sequencing workflows, wet lab optimization, and applied genomics research. 

We are looking for: 

• You’re currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, Biotechnology, Genomics, Life Sciences, or a related field 

• You have basic hands-on experience with molecular biology laboratory techniques 

• You’re interested in next-generation sequencing technologies and laboratory innovation 

• You work accurately, independently, and in a structured way 

• You enjoy troubleshooting and improving laboratory workflows 

• You’re flexible and motivated to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team 

• Experience with NGS library preparation, PCR, or sequencing technologies is a plus

We offer you a meaningful internship position in an ambitious organization. 

• You will receive an appropriate internship allowance of €774 gross per month based on a 40-hour work week 

• We offer two days of leave per month, or you can follow the official school holidays  

• If you do not have a student public transport pass, we will reimburse your travel expenses (€0.23 per km, max. 30 kilometers one way)
